Kachkin & Partners at the round table “Decentralization of St. Petersburg: problems and perspectives”
«Construction Weekly» newspaper invited the representatives of development and consulting companies, public and social and economic institutes, market analysts to discuss the issues of city decentralization at the round table.
The experts tried to answer the following questions the event:
- Does the city need one powerful or several equal centres? How many centres might appear in 5 million people city?
- How many years will it take a city to develop alternative centres, and how much will it cost?
- Is it worth creating specialized centres (e.g. office centres, traffic centres, cultural clusters, etc.), or should all the sectors be equally developed in each centre?
In his speech Andrey Kulakov, Real Estate and Investments Associate at Kachkin & Partners, noticed that it is necessary to thoroughly work out city sub-agglomerations development strategy aimed at the improvement of both housing and administrative and cultural-social terms of their functioning, and it should precede the legislative regulation of St. Petersburg decentralization process.
