Legal support of an Internet TV-channel and video library start-up project during its launch phase
Kachkin & Partners were engaged to provide legal consultancy services for an Internet TV-channel development project.
During this legal support we created the legal structure which would govern the relationship between the Web site owner, copyright holders, users and others. After thoroughly analyzing the TV-channel business development plan, we provided detailed recommendations in the following areas: legal aspects of intellectual property use during the initial formation of the content base of the Internet channel and video library, with regards to copyright and neighboring rights; the protection of the website’s appearance and structure; peculiarities of domain names functioning; specificity of mass media regulation; and specificity of regulation on advertising.
Kachkin and Partners’ lawyers also provided legal recommendations concerning formalization of the intellectual property objects used in the project; legal recommendations concerning conclusion of contracts with other TV-channels, authors of plots and other materials and other partners; and also analyzed risks which could potentially threaten the intellectual assets of the client.
